what you see is in you

Oftentimes
the person
we are upset with
is the one that simply
holds the mirror
of what in ourselves
we are unwilling
to face

do you then blame
the messenger
for their crime
of offering
an unaltered
reflection?

Or rather,
the
Source?

With the sheer brutality of intentional abuse, oftentimes near fatal wounds can never recover and the target will never be silenced- words intended to strike a heart, never miss, an invisible arrow, where the bow-holder remains with impunity, without regret. It’s ok, for the recipient’s regret, tears that will never dry, suffices for both. Those that see have compassion.
